Job Description
The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Entomologist to join our esteemed research team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in conducting research, analyzing data, and publishing findings related to various insect species and their impact on agriculture and the environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to significant advancements in entomological research within a dynamic and collaborative university setting. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, designing and executing research projects, collecting and analyzing insect samples, identifying species using advanced techniques, and preparing comprehensive reports and scientific publications. You will also be involved in mentoring graduate students, presenting research findings at conferences, and collaborating with other researchers both nationally and internationally. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute independent research projects related to entomology
- Collect, identify, and analyze insect samples using various methodologies
- Maintain detailed records of research findings and prepare comprehensive reports

- Mentor graduate students and supervise research projects
- Collaborate effectively with other researchers and stakeholders

Required Skills
- Advanced knowledge of insect taxonomy, morphology, and physiology
- Proficiency in insect collection, identification, and preservation techniques
- Experience with molecular techniques in entomology (PCR, sequencing)
- Strong analytical and statistical skills for data analysis
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for report writing and presentations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a research team
- Proven ability to manage multiple research projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Entomology or a related field
- Postdoctoral experience in a relevant research area
