We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Nutritionist to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team at Garki Hospital Abuja. As a Clinical Nutritionist, you will play a crucial role in enhancing patient health and recovery through expert nutritional assessment, planning, and intervention. You will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans for patients with diverse medical conditions, including but not limited to diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, renal failure, gastrointestinal disorders, and cancer. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for inpatients and outpatients, considering medical history, lab results, anthropometric data, and dietary intake.
- Develop and implement individualized medical nutrition therapy plans based on patient needs, medical conditions, and cultural preferences.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition interventions, adjusting care plans as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
- Provide one-on-one and group nutrition counseling and education to patients and their families on disease-specific diets, healthy eating, and lifestyle modifications.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, dietetic technicians, and other healthcare team members to ensure integrated patient care.
- Document nutritional care accurately and timely in patient medical records, adhering to hospital standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing to patient care planning and discharge planning.
- Stay abreast of the latest research and advancements in clinical nutrition and apply evidence-based practices.
- Contribute to staff education and training on nutritional topics relevant to patient care.
- Assist in the development and review of hospital menus to ensure nutritional adequacy and patient satisfaction.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Nutritionist, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical nutrition therapy, pathophysiology, and pharmacology related to nutrition.
- Excellent assessment, counseling, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
