Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and vigilant Security Officer to join our team on the night shift. As a Security Officer at Kirehe SACCO Ltd., you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our office buildings, premises, and assets during overnight hours. This is a critical role that requires a high level of responsibility, integrity, and attention to detail. You will be the first line of defense against potential threats, providing a secure environment for our operations. Your duties will include conducting regular patrols, monitoring surveillance equipment, controlling access to the premises, and responding to any incidents or emergencies. The ideal candidate will be proactive, possess excellent observational skills, and be capable of working independently to maintain order and security. This role demands a commitment to upholding strict security protocols and a calm, decisive approach in high-pressure situations. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and is dedicated to protecting our valuable resources and ensuring peace of mind for our daytime staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular foot patrols of the office buildings, grounds, and parking areas during the night shift to ensure all areas are secure.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems, responding promptly to any suspicious activities or breaches.
- Control access to the building, verifying identification and ensuring only authorized personnel or visitors enter the premises.
- Maintain accurate records of all activities, incidents, and observations in a daily logbook.
- Respond to alarms, disturbances, and emergency situations (e.g., medical emergencies, fire, theft) following established protocols.
- Inspect and test security equipment periodically to ensure proper functionality.
- Enforce company policies and procedures related to security and safety.
- Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or vulnerabilities observed during patrols.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement or emergency services when necessary.
- Ensure all doors, windows, and gates are properly secured at all times.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a security role, preferably in an office or commercial setting.
- Excellent observational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgments under pressure.
- Strong sense of integrity and professionalism.
- Basic knowledge of security procedures and protocols.
- Physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods.
- Ability to write clear and concise incident reports.
- Basic computer literacy for logging and monitoring systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience specifically in night shift security operations.
- Certification in basic first aid and fire safety.
- Knowledge of local security regulations and standards in Rwanda.
- Proficiency in Kinyarwanda and working knowledge of English or French.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
