Naivas Supermarket in Narok is actively seeking a dynamic and eager Store Manager Assistant to join our thriving team. As a Store Manager Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Store Manager to ensure the smooth, efficient, and profitable running of our Narok branch. Your contributions will be instrumental in maintaining our high standards of customer service, overseeing daily retail activities, and fostering a positive, collaborative work atmosphere. This role offers invaluable hands-on experience in various critical areas of retail, including merchandising, inventory management, team supervision, sales floor management, and customer relations. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Store Manager with the overall daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash management, and operational reports.
  • Supervise, motivate, and train sales associates to ensure high levels of productivity and adherence to company standards.
  • Ensure the highest standards of customer service are consistently met, promptly addressing customer inquiries and resolving issues to enhance satisfaction.
  • Oversee merchandise presentation, stock levels, and visual displays to ensure an appealing and organized shopping environment.
  • Support inventory management, including receiving, stocking, cycle counts, and implementing loss prevention strategies.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and visual appeal of the store at all times.
  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently, handling cash, debit/credit cards, and mobile payments.
  • Assist in scheduling staff, managing breaks, and ensuring adequate coverage during peak hours.
  • Learn and strictly adhere to all company policies, procedures, and health & safety regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and contribute to a positive team culture.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (KCSE Certificate or similar).
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and team members.
  • A strong customer-centric approach with a passion for delivering excellent service.
  • Basic computer literacy and comfort with learning new retail software (e.g., POS systems).
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as per retail operational needs.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, walk around the store, and lift moderately heavy items (up to 20 kg) as required.
  • Enthusiastic, eager to learn, and demonstrate a proactive 'can-do' attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a diverse team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in Business Administration, Retail Management, Sales & Marketing, or a related field.
  • Previous experience (even informal) in a customer service, sales, or retail environment.
  • Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems and basic cash handling procedures.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and ability to motivate others.
  • Residency within Narok or its immediate environs for ease of commute.
