Are you passionate about crafting the perfect cup of coffee and bringing smiles to people’s faces? Gakenke Modern Hotel is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Part-Time Barista to join our vibrant team for weekend shifts. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses excellent customer service skills, and has a genuine love for the art of coffee making. As our weekend Barista, you will be the heart of our coffee shop, responsible for greeting guests with a warm welcome, expertly preparing a variety of coffee beverages, and ensuring the coffee area is always inviting and spotless. Your role is crucial in enhancing our guests’ overall experience, setting a positive tone for their day, and contributing to the relaxing ambiance of our hotel. We are looking for an individual who can consistently deliver high-quality drinks, manage orders efficiently during peak hours, and uphold our standards of hygiene and customer satisfaction. You will be instrumental in creating an exceptional coffee experience, from grinding fresh beans to perfecting latte art, ensuring every sip is a delight. Beyond just making coffee, you will engage with our diverse clientele, anticipate their needs, and make personalized recommendations. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee beverages, including espresso, cappuccino, latte, and specialty drinks, adhering to quality standards.
  • Greet customers warmly, take orders accurately, and process payments using the POS system.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting coffee bar area, including equipment, countertops, and seating zones.
  • Manage coffee bean inventory, grind coffee beans, and ensure freshness of ingredients.
  • Operate and clean all coffee-making equipment, ensuring proper functionality and hygiene.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, respond to inquiries, and resolve any issues promptly and courteously.
  • Educate customers about menu items, coffee types, and daily specials.
  • Assist with other light duties in the coffee shop area as needed, such as stocking pastries or bottled beverages.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Barista or in a similar customer service role
  • Excellent knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and equipment
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliability and punctuality for weekend shifts
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions and managing inventory
  • A positive attitude and a passion for creating excellent coffee experiences
  • Fluent in English (Kinyarwanda is a plus)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a hotel or restaurant setting
  • Demonstrable latte art skills
  • Food handler's certification or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate in Kinyarwanda or French
