Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with artists to understand their vision, develop musical concepts, and define the overall sound and direction of tracks and albums.
- Arrange, compose, and contribute to the songwriting process as needed, enhancing the artistic and commercial appeal of the music.
- Oversee and direct recording sessions, ensuring optimal vocal and instrumental performances.
- Operate and troubleshoot studio equipment, including DAWs (e.g., Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, Ableton Live), microphones, interfaces, and outboard gear.
- Apply advanced mixing and mastering techniques to achieve broadcast-quality audio, ensuring sonic clarity, balance, and impact.
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to artists, fostering a positive and productive creative atmosphere.
- Manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality finished products.
- Stay updated with current music industry trends, production technologies, and software advancements.
- Network with industry professionals, A&Rs, and other creatives to enhance studio opportunities.
- Maintain and organize studio files, projects, and backups meticulously.
Required Skills
- Proven track record as a Music Producer with a strong portfolio of released or commercially viable tracks.
- Expert proficiency in at least one major Digital Audio Workstation (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, Ableton Live, or FL Studio.
- Exceptional understanding of audio engineering principles, including acoustics, signal flow, microphone techniques, mixing, and mastering.
- Strong musicality, including knowledge of music theory, arrangement, instrumentation, and various genres (Afrobeats, Gospel, R&B, Hip-Hop preferred).
- Proficiency with MIDI programming, synthesis, sampling, and sound design.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively with artists and studio personnel.
- Creative problem-solving abilities and a keen ear for detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Production, Sound Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications in specific DAWs or audio engineering techniques.
- Experience working with a diverse range of artists and musical styles.
- Familiarity with video production and post-production audio for visuals.
- Existing network within the Nigerian music industry.
- Experience with live sound engineering or performance.
