Volcano Express is seeking a dedicated Driver Assistant to join our logistics delivery team in Rusizi, Western Province. This full-time role is crucial for ensuring the timely and safe delivery of parcels, packages, and goods across our routes. As a Driver Assistant, you will work collaboratively with our professional drivers, providing essential support in all aspects of the delivery process. Your day will involve assisting with loading and unloading cargo, navigating routes, verifying deliveries, and maintaining clear communication with our clients and dispatch team.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist the driver with loading, unloading, and organizing a variety of goods and packages into and out of the delivery vehicle, ensuring proper handling and security.
- Verify delivery manifests against actual cargo to ensure accuracy and report any discrepancies promptly.
- Navigate routes efficiently with the driver, providing assistance with directions, traffic conditions, and identifying delivery locations.
- Physically deliver packages to designated recipients, obtaining necessary signatures and documentation as required.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with customers, representing Volcano Express with courtesy and efficiency.
- Assist in routine vehicle checks and maintenance, ensuring the vehicle is in good working order and reporting any issues to the driver or supervisor.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself, your team, and the public.
- Manage delivery documentation, including waybills, invoices, and proof of delivery, ensuring all paperwork is completed accurately and submitted on time.
- Support the driver in planning and optimizing delivery routes for maximum efficiency and timeliness.
- Contribute to a positive team environment, working collaboratively with the driver and other team members to achieve daily delivery targets.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and stamina to handle repetitive lifting, carrying, and maneuvering of packages of various weights and sizes.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside a driver and other colleagues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting professionally with customers and team members.
- Punctuality and reliability, demonstrating a commitment to timely arrivals and dependable performance.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for verifying manifests, reading addresses, and handling delivery documentation.
- A strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail, especially concerning cargo security and delivery accuracy.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and adapt to changing conditions on the road.
- Proficiency in Kinyarwanda is essential; basic English or French is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a delivery, logistics, or similar physically demanding role.
- Familiarity with the geography and road networks of Rusizi and the Western Province.
- A valid motorcycle driving license (Category A) could be an advantage for specific local delivery tasks if applicable.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
