Job Description

As an Agricultural Extension Agent at Crown Flour Mill, you will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between our company’s needs and the farming community. You will work closely with farmers in the Ilorin region, providing technical assistance, training, and support to improve their farming practices and increase yields. This involves conducting farm visits, delivering workshops, demonstrating new techniques, and disseminating information on best agricultural practices, specifically focusing on wheat and other relevant crops. Your work will contribute directly to the success of our operations and the overall development of the agricultural sector. You will be a vital link, facilitating the flow of information, resources, and best practices between CFM and our farming partners. This is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for an individual passionate about sustainable agriculture and committed to making a positive impact on the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular farm visits to provide technical assistance to farmers.
  • Deliver training workshops on improved farming techniques, crop management, and pest control.
  • Demonstrate new agricultural technologies and practices to farmers.
  • Collect data on crop yields, farming practices, and other relevant information.
  • Disseminate information on best agricultural practices, government programs, and market opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with farmers and other stakeholders in the agricultural community.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on the progress of extension activities.
  • Collaborate with other members of the agricultural team to achieve program goals.
  • Identify and address challenges faced by farmers in the field.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Extension, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in agricultural extension or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of modern agricultural practices, particularly in wheat cultivation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in English and local languages.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience working with wheat farmers.
  • Familiarity with government agricultural programs and initiatives.
  • Experience using agricultural software and technology.
