Horizon S.A. is seeking a motivated and hands-on Mechanical Assistant to join our dedicated repair workshop team in Muhanga, Southern Province. Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior technicians with the diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems on heavy equipment, vehicles, and machinery.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and system checks, under supervision.
- Help disassemble, clean, inspect, repair, and reassemble mechanical components and parts.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment within the repair workshop.
- Handle and store tools and equipment properly, ensuring their availability and good condition.
- Support inventory management by assisting with tracking parts and reporting stock levels.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Actively participate in on-site training sessions and continuous learning initiatives provided by the company.
Required Skills
- Basic mechanical aptitude or demonstrated interest in mechanical systems.
- Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team.
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor.
- Punctuality and a strong work ethic.
- Basic communication skills in English or Kinyarwanda.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a technical or vocational training program in mechanics, automotive, or a related field.
- Prior basic hands-on experience in a workshop or industrial setting (e.g., school projects, personal repairs).
- Understanding of basic safety procedures in a workshop environment.
- A valid Rwandan driving license (Category B or higher) is a plus.
