Job Description

We are actively seeking a highly skilled, compassionate, and dedicated General Practice Doctor to join our esteemed medical team at Diamond Crest Medical Centre in Karimo, Abuja. This pivotal full-time role offers an exciting opportunity for a medical professional passionate about making a tangible difference in community health. As a General Practice Doctor, you will serve as the primary point of contact for patients, responsible for a broad range of clinical duties that encompass comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of acute and chronic conditions across all age groups. Your daily responsibilities will involve conducting thorough patient examinations, accurately interpreting diagnostic results, developing personalized treatment plans, and performing minor medical procedures. Beyond clinical tasks, you will be instrumental in educating patients on preventive health measures, promoting wellness, and offering empathetic support. We are looking for an individual with exceptional clinical acumen, superior communication skills to effectively engage with diverse patient populations, and a strong commitment to ethical medical practice. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient consultations, physical examinations, and detailed history taking.
  • Diagnose and manage a wide range of common medical conditions, illnesses, and injuries effectively.
  • Order appropriate diagnostic tests (e.g., laboratory tests, imaging) and accurately interpret their results.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based individualized treatment plans, including prescribing medications.
  • Provide preventive care, health education, and counseling on lifestyle modifications and disease prevention.
  • Manage chronic diseases and provide continuous follow-up care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Perform minor surgical procedures and other medical interventions within the scope of general practice.
  • Refer patients to specialists or other healthcare providers when specialized care is required.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date patient medical records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Respond effectively to medical emergencies and participate in on-call duties as scheduled.
  • Collaborate with nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated and holistic patient care.
  • Participate actively in continuous professional development activities and medical trainings.

Required Skills

  • Medical Degree (MBBS) from a recognized and accredited institution.
  • Valid and current practicing license from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-NYSC clinical experience in general practice or a similar primary care setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient management.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and empathetic skills to interact effectively with patients and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in utilizing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems for documentation and patient management.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as a valued member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Unwavering commitment to patient confidentiality, medical ethics, and professional standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postgraduate training or specialization in Family Medicine or a related field.
  • Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Prior experience with specific EMR software utilized at Diamond Crest Medical Centre.
  • Previous experience working in a community healthcare setting in Abuja.
  • Fluency in local Nigerian languages (e.g., Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo) in addition to excellent English communication skills.
