Eldoret Hospital is seeking a skilled and empathetic Nursing Aide to join our care team, specifically focused on providing exceptional elderly support within our care home setting. Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
- Support residents with mobility and transfers, using appropriate equipment and techniques to ensure safety.
- Monitor and record vital signs, intake and output, and report any significant changes in residents' condition to the nursing staff.
- Assist with medication reminders and ensure residents take their prescribed medications as per care plan.
- Provide emotional support and companionship, engaging residents in conversations and recreational activities.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe environment for residents, including changing bed linens and tidying rooms.
- Document care provided accurately and timely in residents' charts.
- Assist with the preparation and serving of meals, ensuring residents receive adequate nutrition and hydration.
- Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and the healthcare team regarding care plans and resident well-being.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Certificate in Nursing Aide, Caregiving, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a care home, hospital, or similar elderly care setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and compassion for the elderly.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures.
- Physical stamina to assist with lifting, transferring, and supporting residents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent.
- Additional certifications in geriatric care, palliative care, or mental health first aid.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Ability to speak local languages (e.g., Kalenjin, Luhya) in addition to English and Swahili.
