Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Freelance Photographer to join our network of creative professionals. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a keen eye for detail and a strong creative portfolio in events and portraits. As a freelance photographer, you will be crucial in capturing high-quality, engaging visuals for our guests, special events hosted at the lodge, and potentially for promotional content. We are looking for someone who can beautifully document celebratory moments, capture the unique personalities in portrait sessions, and convey the vibrant atmosphere of our lodge and its surroundings. You’ll be expected to work on an ‘as-needed’ basis, bringing your unique artistic vision and technical expertise to each assignment. This role requires flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills to interact with diverse clientele, and the ability to deliver stunning results under varying conditions. The ideal candidate will be adept at both natural light and controlled lighting environments, possess a robust understanding of composition, and be proficient in post-production. Key Responsibilities
- Execute professional photography assignments for events (e.g., weddings, corporate gatherings, special celebrations) and individual/group portrait sessions at Akagera Game Lodge.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their vision and requirements for each shoot, providing creative input and guidance.
- Utilize a range of photographic techniques and equipment to capture high-quality, aesthetically pleasing images.
- Perform post-production tasks including culling, color correction, retouching, and final image delivery within agreed timelines.
- Ensure all photographic equipment is well-maintained and in excellent working condition.
- Adhere to Akagera Game Lodge's brand guidelines and client expectations for image style and quality.
- Maintain professionalism and excellent communication with guests and lodge staff at all times.
- Manage scheduling and logistics for assigned photography projects efficiently.
- Provide a selection of edited images in high-resolution digital format, and potentially print-ready formats as requested.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of professional photography experience with a strong portfolio in event and portrait photography.
- Proficiency with professional-grade DSLR/mirrorless cameras and various lenses.
- Expertise in photographic lighting techniques, both natural and artificial.
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom for photo editing and retouching.
- Excellent understanding of composition, exposure, and color theory.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Possession of own reliable photography equipment.
- Fluency in English (verbal and written).
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Photography, Visual Arts, or a related field.
- Experience photographing in diverse outdoor environments, particularly in nature or safari settings.
- Proficiency in Kinyarwanda or French.
- Experience with videography is a plus.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and client needs.
