Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Full-Time Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic primary school team at British International School, Khorfakkan. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons and activities aligned with the British curriculum for primary students.
- Provide individualized or small group support to students, including those with special educational needs, to enhance their understanding and academic progress.
- Help prepare, organize, and maintain learning resources, classroom displays, and educational materials to create a stimulating and organized learning environment.
- Support classroom management and ensure a safe, orderly, and positive learning atmosphere where all students can thrive.
- Observe and record student progress, behavior, and engagement, providing constructive feedback to the class teacher on student development and areas for intervention.
- Assist with supervisory duties during break times, lunchtimes, and school trips, ensuring student safety, welfare, and adherence to school policies.
- Foster positive and professional relationships with students, colleagues, and parents, contributing to a collaborative and supportive school community.
- Support students' social and emotional development, promoting good behavior, respect for others, and growing independence.
- Participate actively in school events, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities as required to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Administer basic first aid when necessary, following school protocols (relevant training will be provided if required and updated regularly).
Required Skills

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, suitable for interaction with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to work effectively both as part of a collaborative team and independently when required.

- Basic IT literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and a willingness to learn educational software.
- A clear understanding of child protection and safeguarding policies, with a commitment to upholding them rigorously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cache Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or an equivalent recognized qualification in education.
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role, preferably within a British curriculum school setting.
- Proficiency in Arabic is considered a significant advantage but is not a mandatory requirement for this role.
- Knowledge of various teaching methodologies and familiarity with educational technology used in primary education.
- Current First Aid certification is highly desirable.
