Job Description

We are actively seeking a passionate and skilled Barista to join our dynamic Café Team at The Place Restaurant & Bar in Agege. This is an incredible opportunity for an individual who genuinely loves coffee, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is dedicated to providing outstanding customer service. As a Barista, you will be the face of our coffee experience, crafting a wide array of delicious hot and cold beverages, from expertly pulled espresso shots to creative lattes and refreshing iced teas. Your role extends beyond just drink preparation; you’ll engage with our customers, understand their preferences, and ensure every visit is a pleasant and memorable one. This position is vital to maintaining our high standards of quality and service, contributing significantly to the overall vibrant ambiance of our restaurant. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee, tea, and other beverage products with precision and artistry.
  • Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other café equipment, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Engage with customers in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner, taking orders and offering recommendations.
  • Process transactions accurately using our POS system and handle cash or card payments.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the café area, including workstations, equipment, and dining spaces.
  • Monitor and replenish inventory of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards and regulations.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment, supporting colleagues as needed.
  • Resolve customer complaints or concerns with professionalism and a problem-solving attitude.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Barista or in a similar customer service role, preferably within a café or restaurant setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of coffee preparation techniques, including espresso extraction and milk frothing.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic mathematical skills for handling transactions and inventory.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weight.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A recognized food handler's certificate.
  • Familiarity with various coffee beans, roast profiles, and brewing methods.
  • Experience with latte art.
  • Prior experience working in a high-volume establishment.
  • Ability to speak multiple local languages is a plus.
