Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles (vans, trucks) to transport packaged beverage products to designated locations within Nyaruguru District and surrounding areas.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring secure packaging and proper handling to prevent damage.
- Verify accuracy of deliveries against invoices and obtain necessary signatures upon receipt.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, records, and trip reports.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and transportation regulations.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any maintenance issues promptly to the fleet management.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, addressing any customer queries or concerns professionally and courteously.
- Manage flexible delivery schedules efficiently to meet tight deadlines and optimize route planning.
- Ensure the cleanliness and proper maintenance of the delivery vehicle, reporting any anomalies.
- Communicate effectively with the logistics team regarding delivery status, potential delays, or unforeseen issues on the road.
Required Skills
- Valid Rwandan Class B driving license (or higher, depending on vehicle type)
- Proven experience of at least 1 year as a delivery driver or in a similar logistics role
- Excellent knowledge of local routes and geographical areas within Nyaruguru and Southern Province
- Strong commitment to safety and strict adherence to road regulations and company policies
- Ability to lift and carry heavy packages (up to 25 kg) and perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach
- Reliable, punctual, and possess a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility
- Basic mechanical knowledge for routine vehicle checks and troubleshooting
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- Additional driving licenses (e.g., Class C or D) for larger vehicles, demonstrating versatility
- Experience in the beverage or Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) distribution sector
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) or GPS navigation systems for route optimization
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high performance standards
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing schedules and unexpected road conditions
