Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimise daily logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, and distribution.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team of logistics professionals.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients, understanding their requirements and ensuring service level agreements are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, utilising lean methodologies and other best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Oversee budget management, resource allocation, and inventory control to maximise operational profitability.
  • Implement and manage logistics technology systems (e.g., WMS, TMS) to streamline processes and improve data accuracy.
  • Prepare regular reports on logistics performance, costs, and service levels for senior management.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 3-5 years) in a Logistics Management or similar operational leadership role.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of developing and motivating teams.
  • Excellent understanding of logistics principles, supply chain management, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and road transport regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CILT – Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport).
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies or other continuous improvement frameworks.
  • Familiarity with the specific logistics landscape and client base in the Bristol and South West region.
