Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate company vehicles (vans, small trucks) for the delivery and pickup of goods, adhering strictly to delivery schedules.
- Strictly follow all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations to ensure the well-being of yourself, your cargo, and the public.
- Plan and optimize delivery routes to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation, adapting to real-time traffic conditions.
- Perform thorough pre-and post-trip vehicle inspections, documenting and reporting any maintenance issues or damages promptly.
- Assist with the careful loading and unloading of parcels and freight, ensuring proper handling techniques to prevent damage or loss.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, including mileage logs, delivery manifests, proof of delivery, and expense reports.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, representing GIG Logistics professionally and courteously.
- Handle cash or electronic payment collections as required, ensuring accuracy and security of transactions.
- Communicate effectively and promptly with the logistics team regarding delivery status, potential delays, or unforeseen issues.
- Keep the assigned company vehicle clean, well-maintained, and in optimal operational condition at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver's License (Class E or G) with a verifiable clean driving record.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience, preferably in logistics, courier, or delivery services.
- Thorough knowledge of Lagos road networks, particularly the Lekki-Epe axis, Ajah, and surrounding areas.
- Strong understanding of basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting common issues.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and route planning skills.
- Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 25kg safely and efficiently.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with customers and colleagues.
- High level of integrity, reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or equivalent qualification.
- Certification in defensive driving or advanced driving techniques.
- Previous experience using navigation applications and electronic proof of delivery (POD) systems.
- Familiarity with various vehicle types commonly used in logistics operations (e.g., panel vans, box trucks).
- Residency within the Lekki-Ajah axis or willingness to relocate to the provided accommodation.
