Job Description
We are seeking a highly vigilant, disciplined, and professional Security Officer to join our team at a key industrial site in Lekki Phase 2, which includes dedicated staff lodging facilities. This pivotal role involves safeguarding company assets, ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel, and maintaining strict access control protocols across both the industrial operations area and the residential staff quarters. The successful candidate will be the first line of defense, responsible for implementing and upholding robust security measures designed to prevent unauthorized access, deter criminal activity, and respond effectively to emergencies. This is a dynamic role that requires keen observational skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to act decisively under pressure. You will be instrumental in creating a secure environment where our industrial operations can thrive and our staff can reside with peace of mind. Your duties will span routine patrols, advanced surveillance monitoring, managing visitor and vehicle entry, conducting thorough checks, and providing detailed incident reports. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular, comprehensive patrols of the industrial site and staff lodging areas, identifying and reporting any security breaches, hazards, or suspicious activities.
- Strictly enforce access control procedures for all personnel, visitors, and vehicles entering and exiting the premises, verifying identities and authorizations.
- Monitor surveillance cameras (CCTV) and alarm systems, responding promptly and appropriately to any alerts or suspicious observations.
- Prepare detailed and accurate daily security reports, incident reports, and log entries.
- Respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies, including medical incidents, fires, and security threats, coordinating with relevant emergency services and management.
- Manage and control traffic flow within the site, directing vehicles and ensuring parking regulations are adhered to.
- Conduct routine checks of gates, fences, and perimeter security to ensure integrity.
- Maintain order and decorum within the staff lodging facilities, addressing and resolving minor disputes or disturbances in a professional manner.
- Provide assistance and information to staff and visitors while upholding security standards.
- Liaise effectively with site management, local law enforcement, and other security personnel.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Security Officer or in a similar role (minimum 2 years).
- Excellent observational and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate security equipment, including CCTV systems, access control systems, and communication devices.
- Physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Sound knowledge of security protocols, procedures, and relevant legal guidelines.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive in stressful or emergency situations.
- Basic first aid and emergency response knowledge.
- High level of integrity, honesty, and ethical conduct.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant security certifications (e.g., Industrial Security Management, Basic Security Training).
- Prior experience in industrial site security or residential/staff lodging security.
- Background in military, police, or other disciplined forces.
- OND/HND or equivalent qualification in a related field.
