Job Description

Are you a highly organised, proactive, and compassionate project management professional with a passion for making a tangible difference in your community? Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice is seeking an experienced Charity Project Manager to join our dedicated team. This vital role will be instrumental in overseeing a diverse portfolio of projects, from service enhancement initiatives and fundraising campaigns to infrastructure developments, all aimed at improving the quality of life for our patients and their families. At Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice, we pride ourselves on a holistic approach that encompasses physical, emotional, social, and spiritual support, delivered by a multidisciplinary team within our hospice, in patients’ homes, and in other care settings. You will be a key driver in transforming strategic objectives into impactful realities, working collaboratively across various departments including clinical services, fundraising, finance, and operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven track record in managing complex projects from inception to completion, ideally within a non-profit or healthcare setting. Your expertise will not only ensure operational efficiency but also foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, allowing us to adapt and grow to meet the evolving needs of our community. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of multiple projects across various departments, adhering to agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope definition, objectives, deliverables, resource requirements, and risk management strategies.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including clinical teams, fundraising, finance, volunteers, and external partners.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and issues, and implement proactive solutions to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Prepare and present regular project reports and updates to senior management and relevant committees.
  • Manage project budgets, tracking expenditure and ensuring financial prudence throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure all projects comply with relevant regulations, governance policies, and best practices within the charity and healthcare sectors.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, evaluating project outcomes and applying lessons learned to future initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 4 years) in project management, ideally within the charity, non-profit, or healthcare sector.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile) and tools.
  • Exceptional organisational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities, with a capacity to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, resources, and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management software.
  • A genuine passion for the mission and values of Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice and palliative care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 Practitioner certification.
  • Experience working with CRM systems or donor management software.
  • A Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Charity Management, Public Health, Business Administration).
  • Experience in fundraising or service development projects within a hospice or palliative care environment.
