Job Description

Rwanda Mountain Tea Ltd. is actively seeking a highly dedicated, energetic, and detail-oriented Warehouse Operator to join our critical logistics team at our Gisovu Tea Estate in Nyamasheke, Western Province. This full-time, on-site position is absolutely crucial to the seamless flow of our extensive operations, ensuring that our world-renowned tea products, from freshly harvested leaves to meticulously processed and packaged goods, are handled, stored, and prepared for dispatch with the utmost efficiency, precision, and unwavering care.

As a Warehouse Operator, you will be a vital link in our sophisticated supply chain, responsible for managing the meticulous movement of both raw materials and finished goods within our bustling warehouse environment. Your day-to-day will involve a diverse array of tasks, from accurately receiving and inspecting incoming shipments of packaging materials and production inputs, to meticulously documenting inventory levels, and precisely picking and packing outgoing orders destined for national and international distribution channels. Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload, and inspect incoming goods, verifying quantities against purchase orders and promptly reporting any discrepancies.
  • Accurately store materials in designated warehouse locations, ensuring proper rotation (FIFO/LIFO) and optimal space utilization.
  • Efficiently pick, pack, and prepare finished tea products and other materials for shipment according to order specifications.
  • Operate various warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, and potentially forklifts (if certified), in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and assist in maintaining precise inventory records through our management system.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, adhering strictly to all company safety protocols and procedures.
  • Assist in the efficient loading of outgoing trucks and containers, ensuring all items are secured properly for transit.
  • Collaborate effectively and professionally with team members and other departments to ensure seamless warehouse operations.
  • Perform routine checks on warehouse equipment and promptly report any malfunctions or maintenance needs to supervision.

Required Skills

  • Strong physical stamina and the ability to safely lift and move heavy objects (up to 25 kg) regularly.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in managing inventory and fulfilling orders.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills essential for documentation and accurate record-keeping.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as an integral part of a cohesive team.
  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and a strong, proactive work ethic.
  • Strict adherence to all safety guidelines and operational procedures at all times.
  • Good verbal communication skills for clear interaction within the team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 1 year of proven experience as a Warehouse Operator or in a similar logistics/production support role.
  • Current certification to operate forklifts or other relevant warehouse machinery.
  • Basic familiarity with inventory management systems and general computer skills.
