Job Description
Are you a highly creative and experienced Graphic Designer with a passion for humanitarian causes? The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) in Garissa, Garissa County, is seeking a talented freelance Graphic Designer to support our vital communication efforts on a project-by-project basis. While our primary operations are based in Garissa, this role offers the flexibility of remote work, allowing you to contribute your design expertise from anywhere, as long as you can meet project deadlines and maintain clear communication.
In this role, you will be instrumental in translating complex humanitarian messages and program objectives into compelling visual narratives. You’ll be responsible for creating a wide range of engaging materials, from impactful digital campaigns for social media and web, to informative print collateral such as reports, brochures, and infographics, all while adhering strictly to DRC’s global brand guidelines. Your work will directly support our initiatives in protection, livelihoods, emergency response, and advocacy, helping us reach beneficiaries, donors, and the wider public with clarity and impact. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and design a wide range of visual materials for both print and digital platforms, including social media graphics, web banners, infographics, brochures, reports, presentations, posters, and newsletters.
- Ensure all visual outputs are consistent with DRC's established brand guidelines, maintaining a cohesive and professional brand identity across all communication channels.
- Collaborate closely with the communications and program teams to understand project requirements, target audiences, and key messages.
- Translate complex data and information into clear, compelling, and easy-to-understand visual representations.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines and delivering high-quality work efficiently.
- Incorporate feedback from stakeholders and iterate on designs to achieve optimal results.
- Stay updated with the latest graphic design trends, tools, and technologies to continuously enhance visual communication strategies.
- Prepare files for print production and digital deployment, ensuring technical accuracy and quality.
- Contribute to the conceptualization of new visual communication strategies and campaigns.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) is mandatory.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of graphic design projects and styles.
- Excellent understanding of typography, color theory, layout, and visual hierarchy.
- Ability to conceptualize, design, and execute creative solutions from brief to final delivery.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and a high standard for quality output.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Communications, or a related field.
