Job Description
GIG Logistics is seeking a diligent and experienced Driver to join our dynamic team in Karimo, Abuja. This pivotal role involves operating company-owned vehicles to ensure the safe, timely, and efficient delivery and pickup of packages and goods within the Karimo area and its immediate environs. As a Local Delivery Driver, you will be the face of GIG Logistics to our valued customers, requiring not only exceptional driving skills but also a professional demeanor and excellent customer service capabilities. You will be responsible for adherence to all traffic laws and company safety policies, meticulous record-keeping of deliveries, and maintaining the cleanliness and operational readiness of your assigned vehicle. This is a full-time position that demands reliability, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to navigate local routes efficiently. Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently for local delivery and pickup of packages and goods.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely deliveries.
- Load, unload, prepare, inspect, and operate a delivery vehicle.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including proof of delivery and collection documentation.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Ensure the cleanliness and good working condition of the assigned company vehicle.
- Interact professionally and courteously with customers, ensuring a positive delivery experience.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company safety policies.
- Manage time effectively to meet delivery deadlines and schedules.
- Handle cash and other forms of payment for deliveries where applicable, with integrity.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customer service teams regarding delivery status or issues.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver's License (Class E or G)
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience
- Excellent knowledge of Karimo, Abuja, and surrounding areas
- Strong navigation skills and ability to use GPS devices
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift and carry packages of varying weights (up to 50 lbs)
- High level of integrity, reliability, and punctuality
- Clean driving record with no history of major traffic violations
Preferred Qualifications
- Secondary School Certificate (SSCE/WAEC) or equivalent
- Experience in a logistics or courier service environment
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge
- Defensive driving certification
- Proficiency in using mobile delivery applications
