Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Geologist to join our dynamic Exploration & Production team in Abu Dhabi. As a Geologist at ADNOC, you will play a crucial role in the discovery, appraisal, and development of hydrocarbon resources, contributing directly to the UAE’s strategic energy objectives. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed geological interpretations of seismic data, well logs, core data, and cuttings to characterize subsurface reservoirs and identify potential hydrocarbon traps.
- Develop integrated geological models (structural, stratigraphic, petrophysical) to support exploration prospect generation, appraisal well planning, and field development activities.
- Perform regional and field-specific geological studies, including sequence stratigraphy, sedimentology, and structural analysis, to understand the petroleum system.
- Participate in well planning, including target selection, well path design, and providing geological prognosis for drilling operations.
- Monitor drilling operations in real-time, providing geological supervision, and making necessary adjustments to geological models.
- Collaborate closely with geophysicists, petrophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling engineers in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Prepare comprehensive geological reports, presentations, and technical documentation.
- Contribute to acreage evaluations, prospect risking, and resource estimations.
- Utilize advanced geological software applications for data integration, interpretation, and modeling.
- Mentor junior geoscientists and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in petroleum geology, preferably within an operating company.
- Proficiency in geological interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, DecisionSpace, Kingdom).
- Strong understanding of clastic and carbonate depositional environments and reservoir characterization.
- Expertise in seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and core description.
- Solid knowledge of structural geology, stratigraphy, and petroleum systems.
- Experience in geological modeling and volumetric calculations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Geology or a related field.
- Experience with unconventional resources.
- Familiarity with the geology of the Middle East region.
- Project management experience in exploration or development phases.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R for data analysis.
