Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components of agricultural machinery and heavy vehicles.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using diagnostic equipment, technical manuals, and experience.
- Execute complex repairs, including engine overhauls, transmission repairs, brake system maintenance, and clutch replacements.
- Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential issues and recommend proactive solutions.
- Document all maintenance and repair work accurately, including parts used, time spent, and issues identified.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Operate and maintain a variety of workshop tools, specialized equipment, and diagnostic software.
- Provide technical support and guidance to operators regarding equipment care and basic troubleshooting.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring proper disposal of waste materials.
- Order necessary parts and supplies, ensuring efficient inventory management for repairs.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic with a focus on agricultural or heavy commercial vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Valid Code 08 (B) or Code 10 (C1) driver's license.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant Trade Test Certificate (e.g., Diesel Mechanic, Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic).
- Experience with specific agricultural machinery brands (e.g., John Deere, Case IH, Massey Ferguson).
- Welding and fabrication skills.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and diagnostic software.
- N3/N4 Mechanical Engineering qualification.
