Graafwater Primêre Skool is seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Educator to join our vibrant team. This pivotal role involves nurturing the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of young children in our ECD phase. As an Early Childhood Educator, you will be responsible for creating a stimulating, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans and educational activities that align with the ECD curriculum.
- Create a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning and play.
- Observe and assess children's development, maintaining accurate records of their progress and achievements.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages social interaction, emotional well-being, and respect for diversity.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians regarding their child's development, progress, and any concerns.
- Manage classroom behaviour positively and consistently, promoting self-regulation and problem-solving skills.
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and participation.
- Collaborate with fellow educators, support staff, and school administration to enhance the overall learning experience.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development workshops, and school events.
- Prepare and organize learning materials, toys, and equipment, ensuring they are well-maintained and accessible.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Early Childhood Educator or similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of child development theories and early childhood education best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Creativity and adaptability in developing engaging educational activities.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with young children.
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Fluency in Afrikaans and English (both written and spoken) is essential for communication within the community.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Development (ECD) or a relevant educational field.
- SACE (South African Council for Educators) registration.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience with various early learning assessment tools.
- Knowledge of local educational policies and guidelines.
