Transnet Freight Rail is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Data Analyst to join our dynamic team. Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and pre-process large and complex datasets from various sources within Transnet's operational systems.
- Perform in-depth statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies related to freight movements, asset utilization, and network performance.
- Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using data visualization tools to present key findings and insights to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with operational teams, engineers, and management to understand business challenges and translate them into data analysis requirements.
- Create predictive models and algorithms to forecast operational needs, equipment maintenance schedules, and potential disruptions.
- Monitor data quality and integrity, ensuring accuracy and reliability of information used for decision-making.
- Proactively identify opportunities for data-driven process improvements and cost efficiencies across the rail network.
- Document methodologies, data sources, and findings for transparency and reproducibility.
- Stay updated with the latest data analysis techniques, tools, and industry best practices.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
- Strong command of Python or R for data analysis, statistical modeling, and scripting.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, QlikView).
- Solid understanding of statistical methods and their application in business contexts.
