Job Description

Philippolis Secondary School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Secondary School Teacher to join our esteemed faculty. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons aligned with the national curriculum (CAPS) and school standards.
  • Assess student progress regularly, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records of achievement.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and disciplined classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum, share best practices, and support school-wide goals.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns.
  • Participate in extra-curricular activities, school events, and professional development opportunities.
  • Implement various teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, including students with special educational needs.
  • Adhere to all school policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
  • Mentor and guide students in their academic and personal development.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or a relevant field with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)
  • South African Council for Educators (SACE) registration
  • Proven experience teaching at secondary school level (Grades 8-12)
  • Excellent classroom management and organizational skills
  • Strong subject matter knowledge and pedagogical expertise
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Proficiency in both English and Afrikaans (advantageous for effective communication in the region)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with integrating technology into teaching and learning
  • Ability to teach multiple subjects within the secondary curriculum
  • Experience in coaching sports or leading extra-curricular clubs/societies
  • A Master's degree in Education or a related field
  • Knowledge of student counseling or support strategies
