Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently replenish shelves, display units, and freezer sections with new stock, strictly adhering to planograms and established store merchandising standards.
- Ensure all products are accurately priced, clearly labelled, and strategically displayed for maximum visibility and customer appeal.
- Implement rigorous stock rotation practices (FIFO – First-In, First-Out) to maintain product freshness, prevent spoilage, and minimise waste.
- Assist proactively with the receiving and precise unloading of incoming deliveries, diligently verifying accuracy against invoices and delivery manifests.
- Organise and meticulously maintain cleanliness and orderliness within all stockroom areas, storage facilities, and on-shelf product displays.
- Promptly identify and remove damaged, expired, or unsaleable products from shelves and storage, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Proactively assist customers with locating specific products, providing friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable service with a positive attitude.
- Operate essential retail equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trolleys, and cage trolleys safely and efficiently, following all safety protocols.
- Strictly adhere to all company health, safety, and hygiene regulations and procedures at all times.
- Collaborate effectively and respectfully with team members and management to achieve daily operational goals and ensure a smooth workflow.
Required Skills
- Strong physical stamina and the proven ability to lift, carry, and move heavy items (up to 20kg) repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in all tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, productively, and maintain composure in a fast-paced and demanding retail environment.
- Highly reliable, punctual, and possesses a strong, proactive work ethic.
- Basic communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work effectively both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as an integral part of a team.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as per operational needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous demonstrable experience in a retail, supermarket, or warehouse environment.
- Familiarity with fundamental stock rotation principles and basic merchandising techniques.
- A minimum of a Grade 10 or Matric certificate (or equivalent qualification).
