Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, and highly motivated Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic team in Roodepoort, Gauteng. As a Cloud Engineer at Dimension Data, part of NTT Ltd., you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure solutions for our diverse client base across various industries. This position requires a proactive individual with a deep understanding of public cloud platforms (primarily AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) and a passion for leveraging cutting-edge cloud technologies to solve complex business challenges and drive digital transformation.
You will be instrumental in the full lifecycle of cloud projects, from initial concept and architecture design through to deployment, optimization, and ongoing operational support. This includes provisioning and managing cloud resources, configuring network components, implementing stringent security controls, and ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and best practices. A significant part of your role will involve automating infrastructure deployments and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible, promoting efficiency and consistency across all environments. You will also be responsible for continuous monitoring of cloud environments, identifying performance bottlenecks, and proactively implementing solutions to enhance system reliability, availability, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage scalable, highly available, and secure cloud infrastructure on public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
- Automate deployment, monitoring, and operational tasks for cloud environments.
- Monitor cloud environments for performance, cost optimization, and security compliance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to cloud infrastructure and services.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of cloud solutions.
- Implement and enforce cloud security best practices and compliance standards.
- Participate in capacity planning, cost management, and performance tuning of cloud resources.
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams and clients.
- Document cloud configurations, processes, and operational procedures.
Required Skills
- Proficiency with at least one major public cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Strong understanding of core cloud services (compute, storage, networking, databases).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
- Solid scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VPNs, Load Balancers, Firewalls).
- Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments.
- Experience with Linux and/or Windows operating systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cloud certification(s) (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator Associate, GCP Professional Cloud Engineer).
- Experience with hybrid cloud environments.
- Knowledge of microservices architectures.
- Familiarity with serverless computing (e.g., AWS Lambda, Azure Functions).
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Splunk).
- Understanding of ITIL framework or similar service management methodologies.
