Key Responsibilities
- Operate tour buses safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and company regulations.
- Transport passengers on scheduled routes, tours, and charter services, ensuring punctuality.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
- Assist passengers with boarding, disembarking, and luggage handling, providing courteous service.
- Provide informative commentary on local attractions, history, and culture during tours.
- Maintain a clean and comfortable environment within the bus for all passengers.
- Handle passenger inquiries, complaints, and emergencies professionally and calmly.
- Manage passenger manifests and ensure accurate record-keeping of trips and mileage.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including emergency procedures and defensive driving techniques.
- Represent Lowveld Bus & Coach professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Code 10 or 14 South African Driver's License with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP-G)
- Minimum 3 years of professional bus driving experience, preferably in a tourism or passenger transport setting
- Impeccable driving record with no major violations
- Excellent knowledge of Nelspruit and the greater Mpumalanga region, including popular tourist destinations
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English
- Problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Basic mechanical knowledge to identify and report vehicle faults
Preferred Qualifications
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Advanced defensive driving course completion
- Proficiency in additional South African languages (e.g., Afrikaans, Zulu, Xhosa)
- Previous experience as a tour guide or a strong passion for local tourism
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route optimization
