Key Responsibilities
- Perform precise alterations and repairs on a variety of garments including dresses, suits, trousers, skirts, and shirts, ensuring a perfect fit for customers.
- Conduct fittings with customers, taking accurate measurements and offering expert advice on suitable alterations.
- Operate and maintain industrial sewing machines, overlockers, and other tailoring equipment safely and efficiently.
- Manage workflow effectively to meet alteration deadlines and customer expectations, ensuring timely delivery of services.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all health and safety guidelines and store policies.
- Inspect finished garments to ensure they meet Woolworths' stringent quality standards before returning them to customers.
- Collaborate with sales staff and other team members to understand customer needs and provide seamless, integrated service.
- Advise customers on fabric care and garment maintenance to prolong the life and quality of their purchases.
- Assist with minor garment construction or repairs for internal needs, such as staff uniforms or display items, as required.
- Stay updated on fashion trends and tailoring techniques to offer modern and relevant alteration solutions.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of professional tailoring or seamstress experience in a retail or bespoke environment.
- Proven proficiency in operating industrial sewing machines, overlockers, and specialized tailoring tools.
- Expert knowledge of garment construction, fabric types, and a wide array of alteration techniques.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all tasks, with a keen eye for aesthetics.
