Job Description
Adventist Health Bakersfield is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary Behavioral Health team in Downtown Bakersfield. This is an exceptional opportunity for a board-certified or board-eligible Psychiatrist to make a profound impact on the mental health and well-being of our diverse patient population. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including diagnostic assessments and risk assessments, for adult patients.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, incorporating pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, and other evidence-based interventions.
- Manage medication regimens, monitoring efficacy, side effects, and patient adherence.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including primary care physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other medical specialists.
- Provide psychiatric consultations for inpatients within the hospital, as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records and documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in on-call rotations, as required, to ensure continuity of patient care.
- Engage in continuous professional development and adhere to ethical guidelines and best practices in psychiatry.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency Program.
- Board-certified or Board-eligible in Psychiatry.
- Active, unrestricted Medical License in the State of California, or eligible for licensure.
- DEA registration.
- Strong diagnostic and clinical assessment skills.
- Proficiency in psychopharmacology and various psychotherapeutic modalities.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to patient-centered, compassionate care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fellowship training in a sub-specialty (e.g., Addiction Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry).
- Experience working with diverse patient populations and cultural competencies.
- Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system.
- Prior experience in an integrated healthcare system or hospital setting.
