Cesar Chavez Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and vigilant School Crossing Guard to help our students travel safely to and from school. This crucial part-time role is more than just directing traffic; you will be a friendly, visible presence, a guardian, and a vital link in our school community, fostering a secure environment for our young learners. As a School Crossing Guard, you will be responsible for managing pedestrian and vehicular traffic at designated crosswalks during peak school hours, ensuring that students, parents, and community members can navigate busy intersections with confidence. Your presence will provide peace of mind, educate young pedestrians on safety, and contribute directly to the positive atmosphere of our school and neighborhood. This role requires unwavering attention, a strong sense of responsibility, and a warm, approachable demeanor. Key Responsibilities
- Safely guide children, parents, and other pedestrians across designated streets and intersections during school arrival and dismissal times.
- Control vehicular traffic to ensure safe passage for pedestrians, using appropriate hand signals and stop signs.
- Educate children on safe crossing practices and pedestrian safety rules.
- Maintain a high level of visibility and awareness of surroundings, anticipating potential hazards.
- Report any unusual incidents, unsafe conditions, or suspicious activities to school administration.
- Arrive punctually for all assigned shifts, rain or shine, and be prepared to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Maintain a positive, friendly, and professional demeanor with students, parents, school staff, and the public.
- Wear provided safety gear (e.g., reflective vest, stop sign paddle) at all times while on duty.
- Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all relevant traffic laws, pedestrian safety guidelines, and school district policies.

- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
