Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Journeyman Electrician to join our dynamic team, focusing primarily on projects within the Almaden Valley area of San Jose, CA. As a Journeyman Electrician at Bay Area Electric, Inc., you will be instrumental in executing a wide range of electrical installations, maintenance, and repair tasks for our diverse portfolio of clients. This role demands a professional who is not only proficient in all aspects of electrical work but also committed to upholding the highest safety standards and quality workmanship. You will be responsible for interpreting blueprints, troubleshooting complex electrical systems, leading small teams of apprentices, and ensuring all work complies with local and national electrical codes. Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with NEC, local building codes, and company safety standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to determine layout of electrical systems.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical malfunctions using appropriate testing devices.
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems and components.
- Supervise and mentor apprentice electricians, providing guidance and training.
- Manage project timelines and materials efficiently.
- Collaborate with general contractors, project managers, and other trades.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and hours worked.
- Operate various tools and equipment safely and effectively.
Required Skills
- Journeyman Electrician License (CA state-issued)
- Minimum 5 years of verifiable experience as a Journeyman Electrician.
- In-depth knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for electrical systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid California Driver's License and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with commercial and industrial electrical systems.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience leading small teams or mentoring apprentices.
- Familiarity with various electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, megohmmeters).
- Certification in specific electrical technologies (e.g., low voltage, fire alarm systems).
