Job Description

Adventist Health Bakersfield is seeking highly skilled, compassionate, and dedicated Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our dynamic healthcare team. We have full-time opportunities available across various units, including but not limited to Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Critical Care (ICU/CCU), Emergency Department, and Women’s & Children’s Services. As a Registered Nurse at Adventist Health Bakersfield, you will be at the forefront of patient care, providing direct nursing services, advocating for patient needs, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This role requires exceptional clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and a commitment to delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care in a fast-paced and challenging environment. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans, administering medications, performing treatments, and educating patients and their families about health conditions and recovery processes. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, accurately and according to hospital policies.
  • Monitor patient vital signs, observe for changes in condition, and document all findings thoroughly.
  • Collaborate with physicians, other nurses, and healthcare team members to develop and execute individualized patient care plans.
  • Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in electronic health systems.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for patients.
  • Participate in unit meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education programs.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations, demonstrating critical thinking and decisive action.

Required Skills

  • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California.
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire).
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Specialty certification (e.g., CCRN, CEN, ONC) relevant to the desired unit.
  • Experience in a Magnet-recognized facility.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (depending on unit).
