Job Description

Bridgeville Animal Hospital is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Associate Veterinarian to join our growing team. As an Associate Veterinarian, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care to our diverse patient base, primarily focusing on canine and feline companions. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations, diagnose illnesses and injuries, and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Conduct a variety of surgical procedures, including routine spays/neuters, soft tissue surgeries, and emergency procedures.
  • Administer vaccinations, preventative care, and provide client education on pet health, nutrition, and behavior.
  • Interpret diagnostic tests such as radiographs, ultrasound, and laboratory results.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records using our practice management software.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with pet owners, discussing treatment options, prognoses, and financial considerations.
  • Collaborate with the veterinary support team to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in continuing education to stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine.
  • Provide emergency and urgent care as needed during scheduled shifts.

Required Skills

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
  • Current and unrestricted Delaware veterinary license (or ability to obtain one prior to employment).
  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Compassion and empathy for animals and their owners.
  • Proficiency in routine surgical and dental procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in small animal general practice.
  • Experience with veterinary practice management software (e.g., Cornerstone, Avimark).
  • Proficiency in basic ultrasonography.
  • A passion for continuous learning and professional development.
