Are you a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Counselor seeking a fulfilling opportunity to make a profound impact on individuals’ lives? TidalHealth Nanticoke is actively seeking a dedicated and empathetic Mental Health Counselor to join our esteemed behavioral health team in Seaford, Delaware. In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in providing comprehensive counseling services to diverse populations, addressing a wide range of mental health challenges from anxiety and depression to trauma, grief, substance use disorders, and acute psychological distress. You will operate within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, working closely with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other specialists to ensure holistic patient care that addresses both mental and physical health needs. Your primary objective will be to help patients navigate complex emotional and psychological issues, develop effective coping strategies, and ultimately achieve greater emotional and psychological well-being. This position involves conducting thorough biopsychosocial assessments, developing individualized, goal-oriented treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) principles, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments to determine patient needs and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, setting measurable goals and objectives.
  • Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and document all clinical activities accurately and promptly.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, and social workers to ensure integrated patient care.
  • Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, coping strategies, and available community resources.
  • Facilitate referrals to external services or higher levels of care when appropriate.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all ethical and professional standards.
  • Participate in case conferences, supervision, and ongoing professional development activities.

Required Skills

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
  • Active and unrestricted license as a Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or equivalent in the State of Delaware.
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience in mental health counseling.
  • Proficiency in conducting diagnostic assessments and developing individualized treatment plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply evidence-based therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, MI).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a diverse caseload.
  • Commitment to ethical practice and client confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a hospital or integrated healthcare setting.
  • Specialization or advanced training in trauma-informed care, substance use disorders, or specific populations (e.g., adolescents, geriatrics).
  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) to better serve our diverse patient population.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
