Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a commercial tractor-trailer (Class A CDL) for local and/or regional routes, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Transport freight efficiently and securely, ensuring on-time delivery and damage prevention.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
- Properly secure cargo using appropriate tie-downs and restraints to prevent shifting and damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate electronic and/or paper logbooks, vehicle inspection reports, and other required documentation.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including hours of service and weight limits.
- Assist with loading and unloading freight as required, utilizing proper equipment and safety procedures.
- Represent R&L Carriers with professionalism and a customer-focused attitude at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 2 years (24 months) of verifiable commercial driving experience
- Clean driving record (MVR) with no major violations
- Ability to pass a pre-employment DOT physical and drug screen
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, including hours of service (HOS)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with truck driving and freight handling (lifting, pushing, pulling)
- Commitment to safety, punctuality, and professionalism
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Less-than-Truckload (LTL) freight operations
- Hazardous materials (HazMat) endorsement
- Tanker endorsement
- Forklift operation experience or certification
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
