Job Description
As a Logistics Dispatcher at Ryder System, Inc. in Miami Gardens, Florida, you will be the linchpin of our daily transportation operations. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and dispatch drivers and equipment for deliveries and pickups, optimizing routes for efficiency.
- Monitor driver progress and routes using GPS and TMS software, providing real-time support and adjustments.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and internal departments regarding shipment status, delays, and issues.
- Resolve operational problems and emergencies quickly, such as breakdowns, accidents, or missed appointments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of dispatch activities, driver logs, and other relevant documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations related to transportation and driver hours of service.
- Process and review dispatch orders, bills of lading, and other required paperwork.
- Proactively identify and address potential service failures or inefficiencies.
- Provide exceptional customer service by responding to inquiries and providing timely updates.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a logistics, dispatch, or transportation coordination role.
- Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and GPS tracking software.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly convey information.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to issue resolution.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Solid understanding of DOT regulations and driver hours of service (HOS).
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
