Job Description

ASA College in Hialeah, Florida, is seeking a talented ESL Instructor to join our growing academic team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, effective, and culturally sensitive English language instruction to adult learners from various linguistic and cultural backgrounds. You will utilize a communicative language teaching approach, creating a dynamic and interactive classroom environment that encourages participation, critical thinking, and real-world application of language skills. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging, student-centered lesson plans for various levels of ESL proficiency (beginner, intermediate, advanced) using current pedagogical practices.
  • Assess student progress regularly through assignments, quizzes, and standardized tests, providing constructive feedback to facilitate learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress in compliance with institutional policies.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment that motivates students to actively participate and communicate.
  • Integrate cultural awareness and real-world English usage into lesson content.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and academic staff to enhance curriculum and program effectiveness.
  • Attend faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and other college events as required.
  • Provide academic advising and support to students, including referrals to college resources.
  • Stay current with best practices in ESL instruction and language acquisition research.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Linguistics, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching ESL to adult learners in a post-secondary or similar educational setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English (native or near-native level).
  • Strong understanding of communicative language teaching methodologies.
  • Excellent classroom management and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and online learning platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field.
  • CELTA, DELTA, or other recognized ESL teaching certification.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment design for ESL programs.
  • Bilingualism (English and Spanish) is a plus, given our student demographic in Hialeah.
