We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic team in Valdosta, Georgia. As an Occupational Therapist with Therapy Specialists of Georgia, you will play a crucial role in empowering individuals to overcome physical, cognitive, developmental, and emotional challenges to participate in the activities of daily living that are meaningful to them. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse caseload across various settings, including outpatient clinics, home health, and skilled nursing facilities, depending on our evolving patient needs and your expertise.
Your primary responsibility will be to provide comprehensive occupational therapy services, from initial assessment to the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans. You will work closely with patients of all ages, helping them to regain or develop essential skills for self-care, work, education, leisure, and social participation. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive initial evaluations and re-evaluations to assess patient's physical, cognitive, psychological, and sensory-motor capabilities, and their impact on daily occupations.
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans and goals in collaboration with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide skilled therapeutic interventions, including therapeutic exercises, functional activities, manual therapy, adaptive equipment training, and environmental modifications.
- Educate patients and their caregivers on home exercise programs, adaptive strategies, and injury prevention techniques.
- Accurately document patient progress, evaluations, treatment plans, and discharge summaries in a timely manner, adhering to all regulatory and ethical standards.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress, collaborate on care plans, and ensure continuity of care.
- Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and therapy aides as needed, providing guidance and mentorship.
- Maintain professional competency through ongoing education, attending workshops, and staying current with best practices in occupational therapy.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
Required Skills
- Current and valid Occupational Therapist (OT) license in the state of Georgia.
- Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program (Master's or Doctorate degree).
- Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in conducting patient assessments and developing comprehensive treatment plans.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and scheduling.
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year of experience as a licensed Occupational Therapist, preferably in an outpatient or acute care setting.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Specialized certifications (e.g., Lymphedema, Hand Therapy, Sensory Integration).
- Familiarity with various therapeutic modalities and adaptive equipment.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations (pediatric, geriatric, neurological conditions).
