Job Description
Arcadis is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Engineer to join our dynamic team in Atlanta, Georgia. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for environmental stewardship and sustainable solutions to contribute to significant projects that impact communities and the environment. As an Environmental Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and managing a wide range of environmental remediation, compliance, and infrastructure projects. You will work closely with senior engineers, project managers, and clients, gaining invaluable experience in various facets of environmental engineering, including site investigation, data analysis, regulatory compliance, and remedial system design and optimization. This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, strong technical acumen, and excellent communication skills, as you will be responsible for preparing technical reports, proposals, and presentations. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental site investigations, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation of soil, groundwater, surface water, and air samples.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, feasibility studies, remedial action plans, and regulatory submittals.
- Develop engineering designs for environmental remediation systems, including process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and detailed specifications.
- Perform complex calculations and modeling for groundwater flow, contaminant transport, and emissions.
- Assist in permitting and regulatory compliance activities, ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal environmental regulations (e.g., RCRA, CERCLA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act).
- Oversee and manage field activities, including subcontractor supervision, site inspections, and construction oversight for environmental projects.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory agencies to achieve project goals.
- Support project managers in scope development, budget tracking, and schedule management.
- Identify and implement innovative, cost-effective solutions to complex environmental challenges.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations, articulating technical concepts clearly and concisely.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering with an Environmental emphasis, or a closely related field.
- Proven proficiency in environmental data management, analysis, and visualization software.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permitting processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information effectively.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and contribute collaboratively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel for fieldwork, sometimes to remote locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or actively pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) for design drafting.
- Experience with groundwater modeling software (e.g., MODFLOW, GMS, feflow).
- HAZWOPER 40-hour certification with current 8-hour refresher.
- Prior internship or professional experience in environmental consulting or engineering.
