Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging, standards-based lesson plans that align with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) curriculum guidelines.
- Utilize a variety of instructional techniques, including technology integration, to differentiate instruction and meet the needs of all learners.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Assess student progress regularly, provide constructive feedback, and communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians about academic performance and behavior.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, support staff, and administration to develop interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.
- Participate actively in professional development opportunities, faculty meetings, and school improvement planning.
- Supervise students during non-instructional times, including lunch, recess, and school events.
- Contribute to the school community through participation in extracurricular activities or committees.
- Maintain accurate and timely records as required by school and district policies.
Required Skills
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate middle school endorsements
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a relevant subject area
- Proven ability to manage a diverse classroom effectively and promote positive student behavior
- Strong pedagogical skills and knowledge of age-appropriate instructional strategies for middle school students
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in integrating technology into daily instruction (e.g., Google Classroom, educational software, interactive whiteboards)
- Commitment to fostering a culturally responsive and inclusive learning environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Education or a related field
- Bilingual proficiency (Spanish a plus)
- Experience teaching in an urban school setting, particularly within Chicago Public Schools
