Key Responsibilities
- Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Assist clients with mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and adaptive equipment as needed.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks that are essential to the client's health and safety, such as laundry, meal preparation, and tidying living areas.
- Monitor and report changes in client's physical condition, behavior, or emotional state to supervising nurses or case managers.
- Assist with medication reminders as instructed by the care plan.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities and provide companionship.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized client environment.
- Document services provided accurately and promptly according to VNA of NWI policies.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including infection control protocols.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, their families, and the VNA care team.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completion of a state-approved Home Health Aide (HHA) training program or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Proof of automobile insurance.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to care.
- Ability to follow detailed care plans and instructions.
- Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience as a Home Health Aide or CNA in a home care setting.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
