Job Description

Beacon Health System is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our comprehensive rehabilitation team in South Bend, Indiana. In this vital role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic services to a diverse patient population across the lifespan, addressing communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations and assessments of speech, language, voice, fluency, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, evidence-based practices, and established goals.
  • Provide direct therapeutic intervention, utilizing a variety of techniques and modalities.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families to ensure coordinated care.
  • Document patient progress, treatment plans, and discharge summaries accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Educate patients and their families on communication and swallowing strategies and home programs.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory standards, ethical guidelines, and company policies.
  • Supervise SLP assistants or clinical fellows as required.

Required Skills

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Current and unrestricted Indiana Speech-Language Pathologist license.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or rehabilitation setting.
  • Experience with specific patient populations (e.g., stroke, traumatic brain injury, neurological disorders).
  • Competence in performing Modified Barium Swallowing Studies (MBSS) and/or Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES).
  • Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, preferably Epic.
  • Specialized certifications or advanced training in areas such as Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT LOUD/BIG), VitalStim, or other relevant therapeutic modalities.
