Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced District Superintendent to oversee critical operational functions within our Fern Creek district. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of district operations, including workforce management, resource allocation, safety compliance, project execution, and customer service. This role demands a strong leader with exceptional organizational and communication skills, capable of fostering a high-performance culture while ensuring adherence to all company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. The District Superintendent plays a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of our infrastructure, responding to emergencies, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will be instrumental in developing and mentoring your team, optimizing operational workflows, and ensuring the delivery of outstanding service to our valued customers in the Fern Creek area and surrounding communities. Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of operations personnel, fostering a safe, productive, and engaging work environment.
- Oversee daily operational activities, including resource scheduling, work order management, and equipment utilization to meet service targets.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies, conducting regular safety audits and training.
- Manage district budgets, control costs, and optimize operational efficiency without compromising safety or service quality.
- Coordinate with other departments and external stakeholders, including emergency services, contractors, and local authorities.
- Respond effectively to system emergencies, outages, and critical incidents, ensuring prompt resolution and clear communication.
- Implement and monitor performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and developing corrective action plans.
- Develop and execute capital and maintenance projects within the district, from planning to successful completion.
- Maintain high standards of customer service, addressing inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Conduct regular field visits to inspect work quality, assess operational conditions, and provide on-site leadership and support.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in utility operations, construction management, or a related heavy industry.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop diverse teams.
- Strong understanding of utility infrastructure, operational processes, and safety regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the service district.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or advanced certification in a relevant field.
- Experience with SAP or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) or safety (e.g., OSHA 30).
- Familiarity with local regulatory bodies and environmental compliance requirements specific to Kentucky.
