Job Description

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky (TMMK) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our dynamic Finance team in Georgetown, Kentucky. As an Accountant at TMMK, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of our manufacturing operations. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your accounting expertise within a complex, high-volume production environment, contributing to accurate financial reporting, robust internal controls, and strategic financial analysis. You will be responsible for a variety of accounting functions, including general ledger management, month-end closing procedures, variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting internal and external audits. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), exceptional analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will collaborate closely with various departments across the plant, providing financial insights and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role is essential for ensuring that TMMK’s financial data is precise, timely, and actionable, supporting informed decision-making across all levels of the organization. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general ledger accounting activities, including journal entry preparation, account analysis, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Lead and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Conduct detailed variance analysis between actual results, budgets, and forecasts, providing insightful explanations and recommendations to management.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, working collaboratively with operational teams.
  • Ensure strong internal controls are maintained and participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation and explanations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, supply chain, and engineering, to provide financial guidance and support for operational decisions.
  • Reconcile various balance sheet accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Stay current with accounting pronouncements and regulatory changes to ensure ongoing compliance.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (minimum 4 years) in a corporate accounting role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data modeling).
  • Experience with large ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or actively pursuing certification.
  • Master's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience with cost accounting principles and practices in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting tools and business intelligence platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Prior experience in the automotive industry.
