In this role, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and validation of cutting-edge hardware for our consumer electronics product line, including smartphones, smart home devices, and other innovative Pixel products. You will work across the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept and architecture definition through to mass production, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, high-performance, and cost-effective solutions.

This position requires a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, strong problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record in hardware development for complex electronic systems. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Product Management, and Operations to bring Google’s vision for Pixel devices to life. If you are passionate about crafting elegant hardware solutions that define user experiences and are eager to contribute to products used by millions worldwide, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, simulate, and prototype electrical circuits and systems for Pixel devices, including schematics capture, PCB layout guidance, and component selection.
  • Conduct thorough hardware validation, debugging, and characterization, identifying and resolving complex technical issues during all phases of product development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product specifications, architecture, and system-level requirements.
  • Perform detailed power integrity, signal integrity, and EMI/EMC analysis to ensure robust and compliant designs.
  • Drive design optimization for performance, power consumption, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, and establish automated test benches for hardware validation.
  • Work with manufacturing partners to ensure smooth product bring-up, qualification, and mass production.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, staying current with new technologies and industry best practices.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in hardware design and development for consumer electronics products.
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Cadence Allegro, Altium Designer).
  • Solid understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, including analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design.
  • Experience with debugging and testing hardware using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, and other lab equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to bring products from concept to mass production.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with high-speed interfaces (e.g., MIPI, PCIe, USB3.0) and memory interfaces (e.g., LPDDR5).
  • Familiarity with RF systems, antenna design, power management ICs (PMICs), and battery management systems.
  • Experience with camera systems, display technologies, or audio hardware integration.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automation and data analysis.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for test (DFT) principles.

Perks & Benefits
