Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough legal research and factual investigation.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, subpoenas, and discovery requests/responses.
  • Manage and organize physical and electronic case files, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including preparing exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
  • Schedule depositions, hearings, meetings, and client consultations.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and third parties.
  • Summarize deposition transcripts, interrogatory answers, and other legal documents.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for closings, arbitrations, meditations, and court proceedings.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all client and firm information.
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed to support legal team operations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant (minimum 2 years).
  • Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and ethical standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.
  • Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies or a related field.
  • Experience with case management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase, PracticePanther).
  • Prior experience in civil litigation, real estate, or family law.
  • Familiarity with e-filing systems for Maryland courts.
