Job Description
The Community Outreach Coordinator will be a vital member of the United Way of Genesee County team, playing a crucial role in expanding our reach and deepening our engagement within the Flint community. This position is central to fostering strong relationships with community members, local organizations, businesses, and volunteers to promote UWGC’s mission, programs, and initiatives. You will be responsible for planning and executing outreach strategies, organizing community events, and serving as a knowledgeable and enthusiastic ambassador for our work. The ideal candidate is an energetic, self-motivated individual with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of community dynamics in Flint, and a genuine passion for making a difference. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying partnership opportunities and ensuring that UWGC remains a trusted and accessible resource for all residents. You’ll work closely with program managers, fundraising teams, and marketing to ensure cohesive and impactful engagement efforts. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive outreach strategies to increase awareness and participation in UWGC programs and initiatives across diverse community segments.
- Organize, coordinate, and attend community events, workshops, and meetings, acting as a primary point of contact and representative for United Way of Genesee County.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, local businesses, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and residents.
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for various community engagement activities and special events.
- Prepare and deliver compelling presentations about UWGC's mission, impact, and opportunities for involvement to various groups and stakeholders.
- Collect and track data related to outreach activities, engagement metrics, and community feedback to inform future strategies and reporting.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to develop engaging promotional materials and content for outreach efforts.
- Identify and explore new opportunities for community partnerships and collaborations that align with UWGC's strategic goals.
- Provide support for fundraising campaigns by engaging community members and sharing the impact of their contributions.
- Stay informed about community needs, trends, and resources to ensure UWGC's relevance and responsiveness.
Required Skills

- Strong interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport and trust with individuals from all backgrounds.
- Proven organizational and project management abilities, with a keen eye for detail.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Cultural competence and sensitivity, with a deep understanding of and respect for the Flint community.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Social Work, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in community outreach, public relations, non-profit engagement, or a related role.
- Familiarity with the Genesee County area and its diverse communities.
- Experience with CRM software or volunteer management platforms.
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish, Arabic) is a plus.
